EASY, QUICK 15 Minutes Dough
Oh.my.Dough. I can’t believe that I’m writing my first post. After years of reading articles, scrolling through hundreds of food blogs and contemplating the amazing food pictures, I am putting my favourite recipe on the World Wide Web. Eeek!
If you’ve had the chance to read my blog name, you would know I have a thing for dough. I love the process of kneading the dough, watching it rise and then baking it into golden perfection. Nothing is more satisfying to me, honestly
This 15 minutes dough has made my life so easy. I have impressed A LOT of people with it because, it takes 15 minutes start to finish, it’s very versatile and works for so many recipes. In less than an hour, you will have a dough that is golden, soft, and oh so tasty. You will LOVE it.
It is very versatile and is quite forgiving. I love it for pigs ion the blanket, manakish (Middle Easter flat bread topped with cheese or spices), pita bread, spinach pies and so much more. Oh wait, I have to add burger buns!
If you love to bake, this dough will change your life.
If you don’t know how to bake, this dough will change your life.
If you don’t like to bake, this dough will change your life.
This recipe is really fool proof, but if you follow my main tips, you will have perfect dough every single time.
- Make sure you water is not too hot, not too cold. You want it at 110 degrees F.
- You want to add your last half cup of flour gradually until your dough reaches the right consistency. You might not have to add it.
- Always bake this dough at 450 degrees F.
I am going to break down the recipe into 4 steps.
Step 1: Get the starter dough ready (5 minutes)
In a large bowl, or the bowl of your kitchen aid, you will combine the water, salt, sugar, yeast, oil and 2 cups of the flout. You will then let the starter dough rest for 5 minutes in a warm place. You don’t have to cover it or place it in a dryer, just keep it in a warm spot in your kitchen.
After 5 minutes, your dough will bubble up and rise quite a bit.
Step 2: The kneading (5 minutes)
Once the starter dough has risen, you will add the remainder of your flour. That can take between 2.5 to 3 cups of flour. After adding 2.5 cups of flour, you will have to baby sit the dough as it kneads. If it seems too wet and sticky, start adding 1 tablespoon of flour at a time until the dough balls up properly. We are looking for a elastic and barely sticky dough.
I use my stand mixer for the kneading process. I set it to a medium speed and let it go for 5 minutes. I start off slow and increase the speed just as the flour has all mixed with the dry ingredients.
Step 3: Dividing the dough and resting it (5 minutes)
The best part about this dough, is that you don’t have to wait an hour or more for it to rise. You can start working with it immediately after its kneaded. I like to divide the dough into balls and let it rest of 5 minutes. This part is not necessary but it does yield better results.
Right after it’s divided, you can freeze the balls of dough and keep them for later use. It can be thawed in the fridge over night or on the kitchen counter for 1-2 hours.
You can also put it in the fridge for 3 days.
Step 4: Shaping and baking!
Believe it or not, 15 minutes have passed and you can start shaping and baking your soft, beautiful dough.
You can shape the dough anyway you like, and fill it with any fillings you like. Just make sure to bake it at 450 degrees F and to keep your eye on the oven because this bakes really fast; it can take from 8 to 10 minutes. What you will end up with is a soft, golden and oh so yummy bread!
Here’s a few previews of how this dough turns out:
Now, you know how to make this bread. From there on end, you can customize it anyway you want it and make your baking dreams come true!
